district attorney's office deciding to charge three officers with involuntary manslaughter. again, this is three years to the day since his death, and there has been so much concern from the family ever since that day, abc seven news reporter tara campbell was at tonight's gathering, a celebration friday of the life of mario gonzales and the criminal charges filed against alameda police officers in his death. >> exactly three years ago, my, you know, like my son, they died right here in this park. mario's mother speaking one day after alameda county district attorney pamela price announced the results of a new investigation, eric mckinley, james fisher and cameron leahy. >> leahy have each been charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter, price pledging to reexamine the case when she first took office, reversing the decision of her predecessor, nancy o'malley, who cleared the officers of any criminal wrongdoing. >> you know, it's not easy, but i expected the best, all the

other shelter to go to appeals courts have said that's cruel and unusual punishment. governor newsom and san francisco mayor london breed are among the california leaders, asking the supreme court to give them more freedom to clear encampments. advocates like jennifer friedenbach say sweeps won't solve the problem. we don't want to see cities, using police and, using criminalization and jail as a way to punish homeless people for being homeless. the supreme court's decision is expected by the end of june. >> it's a story we've been following since the conclusion of aipac mayor london breed signed a deal during her visit to china this week to bring a pair of giant pandas to the san francisco zoo. the pandas are expected to arrive next year, but it's going to take a lot of money to host them. abc seven news reporter luz pena has a look at what happens next. >> it's official. pandas are coming to san francisco. what do you think about pandas coming to san francisco? >> good. are you excited in

full forecast coming right up. >> all right, sandy, thank you so much. happening now a 21 mile stretch of highway 37 is closed from vallejo to sears point for a repaving project. closure started at 9 p.m. and runs through the weekend until monday morning. there are detours which involve highways 2912 and 121. traffic could get backed up not just by people trying to visit wine country, but there's also an event at the sonoma raceway. shutdowns are planned for the next four weekends to complete the work in the north bay. the sausalito pier is temporarily closed, suspending ferry service to the city. an issue was discovered during a routine inspection this afternoon, which needs immediate attention as a precaution, it will be closed to golden gate ferry service until repairs can be made. replacement. golden gate transit bus service is available. there's no estimate on when it will reopen. >> new at 11 bitcoin has done what is known as halving, which means those who mined the cryptocurrency will get half of what they currently make. but

cause a crash. the pedal can get stuck. federal officials say. workers assembling the trucks at tesla's factory near austin, texas, improperly used soap in the pedals, assembly. the sticking issue was first raised in social media and online discussion groups that posted about it. a new technology developed here in the bay area is helping doctors detect lung cancer faster and safer than ever before. and the ion robot, which was developed by sunnyvale based intuitive surgical, helps guide doctors to the proper spot to get a biopsy inside the lungs , the robot is inserted through the throat of the patient and navigates through the lungs branches. this way, doctors don't need to insert large needles through the patient's ribs. >> if you put a needle from the outside into the lung, the lung can collapse. it's like poking a balloon, and that happens 5 to 15% of the time, depending on what the patient's lungs are like. when we biopsy from the inside, that risk of lung collapse is around 1. >> the iron robot has already

the environmental benefits that reducing your meat consumption and dairy consumption can have on the planet. organizations like palo alto forward shared their work to promote building housing in transit areas that can reduce the amount of driving , organize and advocate and get those voices out there. >> get them to the forefront. so it's not just people who hate housing showing up at public hearings, but it's those of us saying, no, we want this. we want more neighbors. >> earth day is monday, but events will be happening all weekend long throughout the bay area. each year, the organization pacific beach coalition, focuses on a different species to celebrate earth day. this year. it's whales. >> it really gives us a focus and connects us to the species. so we care a little bit more about it and we will, reduce our single use plastic because we know that's helping the whale. >> on saturday, the organization will host whale fest in pacifica. >> these majestic species are so special and they contribute greatly to the health of the

center is saying the 6 to 10 day outlook will be very different around the bay area. that starts april 25th, which is next thursday, and it continues into the following week. so i want to show you what they're saying near normal for the east coast, above average in terms of precipitation across the central u.s. below average for the southeast. and we are included in that above average category, which is 33 to 50% chance that we'll see above average rainfall during this time period. so i do want to quickly show you when that's going to happen on thursday. things are still pretty quiet, but late thursday going into friday is when we have our opportunity for rain. and this is a week from today. but just keep that in the back of your mind as you enjoy your weekend plans. here's a lovely view from our emeryville camera. overnight tonight, clouds, fog, spotty drizzle. this weekend we're talking about sunshine and spring warmth in our bayside and inland communities, and for the middle of next week, more clouds and cooler weather followed by the rain chances. if you're going to the giants game tomorrow at oracle park against

[whirring] i was assistant winemaker at a winery called white rock, and that's where you make your road 31 pinot noir. i never made better wine than i did when ryan was on the job when he was there, so, we became fast friends, thought about moving the winery down here, but if you look around, there's these old historic cranes everywhere. and i kept thinking, my wine folks are not gonna wanna look at those cranes, but my brewing buddies, they're gonna be like, check out those cranes. ryan had gone to work for lagunitas.

small brewery, little small brewery called lagunitas, yeah. um, and then that, uh, kind of helps understand that maybe beer is where we should go. yeah. so we got back together. i'd read the business plan. ryan had the brewing expertise, and we started up the brewing company based on that. ♪♪ we've taken the parts of the wine world that we think apply, but we've had to learn kind of a new approach. and some of you know, the wine world's fantastic and super fun on one level. -absolutely. and, man, it's sure fun to have a pint on the other level. yeah, it wine world can be and feel a little exclusive. a lot of the retail can make it feel a little stuffy. on beer, everybody can have a fun time on an $8 pint. you really find more opportunities to have, uh, people enjoy your product with beer. i think it really speaks to a sense of community that you can create with a brewery that you can't quite do as much with a winery. we want people to have the whole experience. we want them to have the beer, we want them to have the history, and we want them to have the community gathering, watering hole that we try to provide. and it's that combination that i think makes us special.
