laying out on some college campuses, including a building stormed by palestinian supporters. we are live in washington with the latest on the police response here and cease fire talks in the middle east. awaiting the recount results as soon as today, the
5:01 am
stage may be set in the high stakes race to replace house lawmaker ana eshoo. this morning. we hear exclusively from the man behind that recount request. also cash for college california new and extended deadline to apply for financial aid in the wake of long federal delays. this is today in the bay more money for college. sounds good. start the tuesday off right. want to say good morning to you all on marcus washington and i'm ginger conejero saab. laura garcia is off. i'm with you on that. more money for college. more money in general. right. well we're going to get a look at the morning commute for mike in just a second. but we're going to start things off with our forecast from meteorologist kari hall. how's it looking, kari. it starts out really nice this morning once again we had beautiful weather yesterday. today really not any different as we get a live look outside in oakland this morning. it is a cool 49 degrees right now. we may drop another degree or two, but then as we go throughout the
5:02 am
rest of the day, our temperatures are going to be warming up and we will see another sunny day of temperatures in the low 60s at noon, headed for the low 70s. and for san jose, we'll see a high of 7364. in san francisco. and for the north bay will be in the low to mid 70s. so we are enjoying some mild temperatures. it will be slightly warmer tomorrow as our highs head for the upper 70s. even a few low 80s with some gusty winds, so i'll be tracking that and the changes for you. but mike, you are hearing about a crash just off of the bay bridge. yeah, and we saw some slowing reports were that eastbound coming off of the bay bridge and passing the toll plaza, a vehicle hit one of the walls on the side of the road. there no injuries reported. i saw some slowing for about 3 or 4 minutes and then things cleared up as well. i think they've got this taken care of. there's some slowing that should be clearing now as crews clear from 84 as well. we'll check on that coming up back to you. thanks, mike. well, this morning campus unrest continues. students are now barricaded inside a building on the main
5:03 am
campus of columbia university. and this comes as many students across the u.s. and the bay area for that matter, making their voices heard. this is against the israeli-hamas war today in the bay's brie jackson. live in washington for us this morning. so, brea, how is columbia responding? good morning marcus. ginger. so this morning columbia university is asking anyone who can avoid coming to its main campus to do so. currently, there's only one point of entry open at this hour. this is new video of pro-palestinian students storming hamilton hall overnight. one protester yelling at one point, quote, let's finish what they did in 1968. now that is a reference to a similar protest that took place at the same building during vietnam war demonstrations. some protesters were seen breaking windows while barricading themselves inside. ahead of all of this, college leaders warned that those who fail to disband from the two week encampment by yesterday would face
5:04 am
disciplinary action. columbia says that it has already begun suspending those who refuse to leave the encampment. those students, like in similar college campus protest, including at stanford and uc berkeley, are demanding a cease fire in gaza and for schools to cut financial ties with israel. brea, you mentioned that there are students who are among those demanding a cease fire. are there developments in those negotiations out of egypt? yeah. so all of this campus unrest plays out nationwide. officials from hamas have now left cairo. egyptian media says that the organization plans to submit a written response to that cease fire proposal, but is not saying when. now under the terms hamas would agree to release 33 hostages from the so-called humanitarian category. so that's women, that's children, it's the elderly, it's people with serious medical conditions. now, if hamas agrees, it would be in
5:05 am
exchange for a temporary cease fire and the release of palestinian prisoners. meanwhile, just within the last few hours, israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu pledged to launch an incursion into rafah as ceasefire negotiations continue. you and i know we're talking about us secretary of state antony blinken over there in jordan right now, has his visit and any talks made, any movement? what, so that we can see so far. so those comments from netanyahu come hours before blinken does arrive in israel to advance the truce talks. so far, what we've heard is that hamas is looking over a proposal to release the remaining hostages in stages, which is a significant move. and another move. senior administration officials say that israel indicated it would move toward, or possibly accept or sustain a sustained cease fire in gaza, meaning that it would last more than six weeks. now, that's something that the biden administration has pushed
5:06 am
for. but blinken has really been putting pressure on israel and hamas when it comes to these negotiations. so hamas has before it a proposal that it is extraordinarily extra ordinarily generous on the part of israel. and in this moment, the only thing standing between the people of gaza and a cease fire is hamas. meanwhile, back here in the us later today, house speaker mike johnson is set to make an announcement regarding anti-semitism on college campuses. his office says this new effort will include wide ranging investigations focused on holding college colleges and university administrators accountable if they fail to keep students safe. marcus ginger, so much to watch out for there. brie jackson live from washington. thank you. well happening today. former president donald trump returns to the manhattan courtroom. this is where his hush money trial resumes. now, the first witness
5:07 am
expected back on the stand today, a bank executive who prosecutors claim helped facilitate that $130,000 payment to adult film star stormy daniels. trump has pleaded not guilty to trying to hide payments made to both daniels and playboy model karen mcdougal. this is all tied to the alleged affairs ahead of the 2016 election. moving on now to decision 2024 election leaders are getting close to announcing results in the race to replace house lawmaker anna eshoo. the recount will determine who squares off against former san jose mayor sam liccardo this fall, and it is possible a final count could be revealed later today. in the primary, joe simitian and evan low placed for second. they tied for that. now, we also know that san mateo county has finished counting its ballots. santa clara county may finish its count as soon as this morning. the man who requested the recount spoke exclusively with nbc bay area. he calls it
5:08 am
my and boggling that the recount is taking this long now. questions have also been raised about who is footing the bill for the recount. here's his answer. there's been absolutely no talks with mr. liccardo or his campaign. anybody on the campaign. this is done completely without any of their knowledge. and, you know, they even want us to do things we're not necessarily willing to do right now, like reveal the donors. we're going to do that following fec guidelines and mid-july, jonathan padilla says he challenged 32 ballots still in envelopes across the district, arguing those ballots should be added to the results. those challenges still need a ruling before the state finalizes the recount. san jose's police officers union is doubling down on its response to the violent altercation involving a member of mayor, matt mahan security detail. that guard got into it with a heckler as the mayor was conducting a media interview and a new letter to the chief of police and mayor's office, the pico boulevard calls for mayor matt
5:09 am
mahan's security detail to be doubled. it says at no time should the mayor be accompanied by any fewer than two sworn sapd officers. now, police say that the heckler is wanted fugitive from georgia. we actually spoke with the mayor last night who says that the department decides security details. they have a specific unit that focuses on the security of the entire city council, and that's a decision they make. i you know, personally, just want as many resources as possible to go into keeping our residents safe, but that's ultimately the decision of the police department. but the man also says that he's visited that guard in the hospital after being treated for injuries. and he is doing better . that heckler is arrested and he is facing multiple charges. college bound students and their parents listen up. california is extending its deadline for state financial aid programs. you now have until thursday to apply
5:10 am
through fafsa or the california dream act application. us governor gavin newsom's office says fewer high school students are filling out the forms for that financial aid. the extension was made possible after the governor signed an urgency measure into law. we're taking a live look now. it's 509. this is san jose. good morning. good morning. a happy tuesday to everyone that's waking up in san jose. our meteorologist, kari hall has the outlook for today. it's really been very nice. it has been very yeah. so we're going to continue that as we go throughout today. and we're right now in the upper 40s, low 50s for the most part. we are seeing a calm wind. but the wind will pick up once again. still pretty breezy in san francisco. and we're going to see 19 20 mile per hour wind gusts through 7:00 this morning. and look at what happens as we go throughout the day. the winds get even gustier, and we're going to see at times along the coastline, some of those gusts at 30 to 40mph today. and it
5:11 am
will peak as we go into the afternoon, into the evening through the delta. we're also going to see some gusty winds, not only today but tomorrow, as well as our temperatures head for the mid 70s. so we'll talk more about changes ahead in a few minutes. mike's been watching changes at the gas pump. yeah changes in the leaderboard. we now have the best price in the state okay i'll calm down. it's the same price we've had all last week too. it's that fliers. the one station in fremont at 434. the shop on osgood road. it's now made the ten best. it's the best of the state. san jose has a new leader, though for 79 at quick serve on alum rock avenue. and in marin county, we have the low of 483 mill valley's arco on redwood highway. these are all coming in through all of you on gasbuddy.com. so report or check. let's get out to the roadways. we check out how traffic is flowing pretty smoothly right now. still have that slowing on highway 84, but the crews, i believe are just about clear. the arrow shows the commute direction from the top of the screen down vasco road. you see some slowing going the opposite direction. i'm not
5:12 am
aware of any major projects. we'll keep tracking that, but so far the commute coming in there as well as out of the altamont, they're moving just fine. and the look across the bay bridge is also very smooth. back to you. thanks a lot, mike. 511 for you. this morning. so another streaming service is digging deeper into your pockets ahead. this morning on today in the bay we're going to talk about the increase set to start this summer ahead of the olympics. and the government requiring new safety equipment on upcoming new cars. we'll tell you what it is. plus it's okay. coolness. so we'll see you tomorrow. on wednesdays we wear pink. decades later, you still can't sit with us. the new surprise for fans of mean girls as the film rings in a special anniversary today. stay with us. you c sit withan

5:15 am
work in berkeley this morning. it's going to be in the mid 50s. and we do have another sunny beautiful day with temperatures warming up going into the afternoon. we are going to have some mild weather through at least the middle of the week, but we'll talk about a weekend cooldown coming up in a few minutes. and folks are heading south with these tail lights away from us through san rafael. no problem. here at north san pedro road. smooth drive over the hill down past lincoln, eventually to the golden gate bridge. we'll show you if there's any build. i think there's going to be some build coming up in the next few
5:16 am
minutes. well good morning. very happy tuesday to you. united airlines says it's going to add flights from sfo to detroit and saint louis. today's the end of the month april. kind of stormy for investors. unless something strange happens today the dow will have lost 3% in april. the nasdaq a bit more than 2. all because investors are convinced interest rates are going to remain high. actually the fed meets today to make a decision about interest rates. they'll keep them high. there's no drama here. no surprises unless you're one of those people that thinks this time lucy is going to let charlie brown kick the football. there's nothing to see here. the blog, the information reports more layoffs are coming to tesla. two more executives have left and the reports say those executives had hundreds of people reporting to them. and many of them will go to tesla has not commented. this is chen pengzhou, the former head of binance, one of those cryptocurrency outfits. he'll be sentenced today for money
5:17 am
laundering. and if he goes to prison, he will be the richest person to go to prison in america ever. he's worth at least $40 billion. unlike ftx, binance is still around making money. it did not collapse. zhao is accused of looking the other way as nefarious groups like hamas and north korea. al qaeda laundered funds through binance, the national traffic safety administration is issued a new rule yesterday saying every new car in built in america has to have this automatic braking starting in 2029. you probably have it on your car now. it detects pedestrians or impending crashes and warns you with a flashing light and hits the brakes if you don't hit them. nhtsa says requiring the system on all new cars will save 360 lives a year, prevent more than 20,000 injuries, and the president of the european union was asked if the eu might follow the us and ban tiktok, to which she said she wouldn't exclude
5:18 am
the idea and pointed out the eu was the first to ban tiktok on government phones. the us has demanded tiktok's parent companies sell the service to an american interest. but there's a problem practically nobody can afford it. it'll be worth tens of billions, and the companies that can't afford it, like facebook, would likely be blocked by the ftc on antitrust grounds. so marcus and ginger, i've made this helpful flowchart for you. if anybody thinking about tiktok can use this, if you can afford it, it's likely you won't be allowed to buy it. if you can't afford it, you can't buy it either. so that's how that works out. so it just stays where it is. it just stays in the hands anyway. all right. thanks, scott. you bet. all right. 518 for you this morning and new for you ahead of the paris olympics, peacock is raising prices. the streaming service will increase the monthly fee for new subscribers by $2 on july 18th. that pushes the ad supported tier to 7.99 a month, and the ad free tier to 13.99 a month. the annual fee
5:19 am
goes from 79.99 for ad, supported to 139.99, so basically $140 for the no ad part of that. now peacock, which has about 34 million subscribers, will air more than 5000 hours of live olympic coverage. now, we should note that peacock is owned by our parent company, nbc universal. training for you this morning. it is not wednesday and we aren't wearing pink, well, you know, carrie is okay. one of us is. but you know what? today we are marking 20 years of making fetch happen. oh, my god, i love your bracelet. where did you get it? oh, my mom made it for me. it's adorable. oh, it's so fetch. what is fetch. oh, it's like slang for england. today marks 20 years since the release of tina fey's 2004 movie mean girls. that movie, which stars young lindsay lohan, follows the hierarchy of high school life and has proven to be a cult
5:20 am
classic. time and time again. and to help celebrate the movie. it's recent musical remake is being released in 4k, so stop trying to make fetch happen. yeah, okay. even in 4k. all right, let's get started this morning. yes wearing pink either today or tomorrow on wednesdays, of course, we wear pink, but it's tuesday, so let's get started. let's do that. take a live look. outside in san francisco, we are all clear. it's going to be another breezy day, especially in the delta and along the coastline. so we are going to start to see those wind advisories going up for solano county. and then we're also going to have some warmer temperatures. our valleys headed for the 70s and 80s for the weekend. it's going to change again with cooler and breezy weather. you can see that at the bottom of the screen with our 7-day forecast already up. so we're going to see a high of 71 in dublin, about the same in
5:21 am
fremont. we're up to 77 in fairfield today. santa rosa 75. also 75 for morgan hill and san martin going into the day tomorrow, it is just a touch warmer with some upper 70s and low 80s feeling more like the end of spring, and we'll see that continue on as well as we go closer to the end of the week. so we're seeing high pressure building warmer temperatures, but eventually we'll start to see the impact of a cold front and the possibility of some rain on saturday. it's probably not the best day to get a chance of showers, especially with it being so spotty, but we are going to be watching out for that in the cooler. temperatures continue through the beginning of next week. it doesn't look like a lot of rain. i wouldn't cancel any plans, but along the coast and in some of the hills, we may have some light showers. about a quarter inch of rain or less is what we're expecting for saturday, but definitely a big drop in temperatures. in san jose, we're going from upper 70s to low 60s, and then a gradual warm up through the middle to
5:22 am
end of next week. so our 7-day forecast shows that our temperatures will be warm from now through friday, a cool weekend and at times some spotty showers. mike, you're looking at a crash on the peninsula. yeah, i spotted this. had been tracking it for a while. it's 280 there near alpine road. reports are that there is an injured deer in the area and so waiting for any follow up, there wasn't any. i guess that's good news. they didn't find an injured deer. we'll track that. but i think it'll likely clear that from the peninsula side. east bay looks very smooth right now. no slowing here yet for highway four. highway 37. just starting to show those little blips. so that is a pretty typical pattern as we look at your timing. we're also looking at vasco road, still just 19 minutes. easy drive out of contra costa county to alameda county. back to you. thanks, mike. well, next on today in the bay nbc bay area responds. she's out hundreds of dollars because a credit card perk is not paying off and the company's not really helping. i'm consumer investigator chris chmura, nbc bay

her amazon cash back credit card. more than 500 bucks. well despite hours on the phone, no resolution or cash back. so rebecca reached out to our team. we contacted amazon headquarters. well, it turns out rebecca's card was not connected to her family's amazon prime account. amazon fixed that, and now she's getting cash back for her purchases. amazon also gave rebecca $561. what she says she would have earned if her account had been connected. amazon told us in this case, we've worked to resolve this for the customer. if i could rewind and travel back three years to the day amazon sent rebecca her first statement, i would encourage her to review it and every statement after that to make sure she was earning the perks she expected. and that's savvy advice for you. for any monthly bill, check for minor mistakes today so they don't become major problems

bay area college, waking up this morning and new tent encampment. the initial response from school leaders as tensions spill over at schools elsewhere and today could be the biggest day yet in the effort to recall alameda county district attorney pamela price. the two sides setting out their issues before the supervisors meet about that. plus putting their foot down san francisco's new push back against lawsuits tied to a skateboarding event. everyone can agree they simply got out of hand. this is today in the bay. good morning. i'm ginger conejero saab. laura garcia is off today, and i'm marcus washington. we're going to get
5:31 am
to your headlines in just a moment. but first i want to take a live look this morning. this is over at the spca in dublin. look at that cutie right there. well, today is national adopt a shelter pet day. and our bob redell got the lucky draw this morning. he's actually hanging out there with perhaps your next furry friend. stick around for. we're going to have a live report with all those details you need to know to add to your family this morning. stick around for that. oh, that's very nice and bright morning there for those for those guys at spca. hopefully a bright morning for us too, as we take a look at that forecast from meteorologist kari hall. yes. going to be another beautiful day. we're already seeing that the sky is clear. these days are getting longer. a little bit of light in the sky as we take a live look outside in walnut creek. and we're also starting out with some cool temperatures in hayward. it is 50 degrees. we have a light wind, and it's also all clear, and it stays clear throughout the morning into the afternoon as temperatures warm up. we're headed for the low 70s here, and we'll see a high of 73
5:32 am
in livermore and 75 in napa and santa rosa, san francisco today, 64 degrees. and mike, you're saying it's about time for the commute to start building. yeah. so we haven't had a back up build up yet, but we've had the commute volume grow. so we have more folks. the metering lights likely going to be turned on right on pace in about a minute or two. again, this is the bay bridge for those unfamiliar. as we look at the roadways, we're looking at a smooth drive coming into the area, looking at a little bit of slowing for highway four out of vallejo and also a little slowing for i'm sorry for highway 37 and a little slowing for highway four in through pittsburg into bay point concord, though there's 242 kicking off a little slowdown as well. so things are right on pace. san jose right above where it says san jose. reports of a crash there. we'll check on the location. it looks like it's just off of 880. and we'll see how things are shaping up in the south bay coming up. thanks a lot, mike. new overnight firefighters are still working to mop up following a two alarm fire in the east bay. now, it happened just before one this morning in downtown concord. at one point, flames overtook a vacant vacant
5:33 am
commercial building near sunset and east street that is right across from the bart station. firefighters put out the fire and no one was hurt. firefighters are still asking everyone to avoid that area and the cause of the fire is under investigation. happening today, it is shaping up to be a make or break day. this is for the embattled district attorney. alameda county supervisors are expected to discuss setting a date. this is for that recall election today in the bay's kris sanchez is joining us here. and kris pamela price appears to be fighting for her job from multiple fronts. right. so as the backers of the recall effort are pushing for alameda county supervisors to set a date for the election, neither pamela price nor her supporters are going down without a fight. here's a look at what is happening today. da price and her supporters will hold a public event this morning. so will her challengers, all ahead of the supervisors meeting, which is happening later this afternoon. so there's your calendar. the da's press conference is about an
5:34 am
investigation into the recall effort, not by her office, but by california's fair political practices commission. she is expected to announce plans to ask the supervisors to declare the recall signature count invalid because of a number of signatures that were found invalid by the county registrar of voters. the registrar will present those results to supervisors today. now another group, protect the win for public safety, will lend their support to da price, saying that the recall effort is an undemocratic effort to overturn the will of the voters who elected her at issue is how much money the group save alameda for everyone pitched into that effort at 1:00 this afternoon. that group save or save alameda for everyone or safe. we'll talk about the reason they want da price out. they say price's criminal justice reforms put the rights of suspects ahead of those of victims and their families, and have also led to
5:35 am
higher crime rates. now alameda county supervisors could set the recall election as part of the november election coming up. or they could call for a special election at another time, or they could declare the special election invalid altogether. we will be covering all of the ins and outs of this story, but we do know that it is a very big day, so you'll want to get that nbc bay area app in case there are developments when we are not on air. marcus. all right, chris. thank you. well, tensions boiling over overnight in new york city. that's where columbia university students stormed an academic building on campus demanding the school divest from companies doing business with israel. palestinian supporters broke windows, barricading that interest with chairs and tables. now the school telling all students to avoid coming to campus today. yesterday, activists were told to disband their encampments or face disciplinary action. columbia university is now just one of many schools where tent protests are taking place. and right here
5:36 am
at home, this is a live look are closer. look for you out there this morning at san francisco state's campus. now protesters there now waking up in new encampment just created yesterday. you can see dozens of those tents lined up there. sfsu now one of several bay area schools or tent protest are in place. and those protesters there, like those over at schools at university of california at berkeley and stanford, they all have similar demands trying to keep that united front. i think the students here who are prepared for the long haul struggle, that is for the liberation of palestine, is something that many faculty here support and are ready to stand alongside them. now, police so far staying away from the sfsu campus, the school issued a statement saying that it respects the rights of those students to peacefully protest and will work to keep everyone safe. vallejo police will patrol schools today after a student brought a gun onto campus. it happened at jesse bethel high school yesterday.
5:37 am
the school says a staff member took the gun from the student. the student then took off before police could arrive. as of last check, officers are still searching for that student. the high school and nearby elementary school were locked down. patrols will continue for the rest of the week. san francisco city attorney david chu is scheduled to appear before a judge today. he's expected to request all legal claims be tossed out, tied to a controversial police response last year. it happened during the unsanctioned hill bom skateboarding event in the mission district chaos escalated when officers responded to reports the gathering had become dangerous. in total, 113 people were arrested, 81 of whom were juveniles. at that time, skateboarders described it as an abuse of power, and at least four teenagers are now suing the city, claiming their civil rights were violated. san francisco police chief bill scott maintains the officers response fell within the bounds
5:38 am
of department policies. well, happening today, oakland's brand new baseball team should slide safely into the new home. council members are expected to sign off on that team's plan to play this season over at raymond park in west oakland. the ballers are joining the independent pioneer league. the team plans to spend some $1.5 million. this is to bring that feel up to league standards. also. today the group leading the push. this is for a new city of solano county, will update their efforts to place a measure on that ballot in november. now, the project is called california forever and developers want to build it from scratch on land between rio vista and travis air force base. now, the group of billionaire investors behind this plan, that group today plans to announce some sort of milestone in the petition process. it takes place at 10:00 this morning. 538 for you on this tuesday morning, taking a live look at beautiful san francisco. and actually, when i
5:39 am
left the house this morning, it was a little breezy. meteorologist kari hall i don't know if it's going to stay that way or if it's going to open up to be a nicer day. yeah it's going to still be a windy day. and i think the next couple of days are going to be windy, especially near the coastline. we're already seeing the sustained wind at 15mph. now looking elsewhere, temperatures are in the upper 40s, low 50s with a light to calm wind and redwood city as you're heading to work, it's going to be 48 degrees in the next hour or two, and it's also going to be mostly sunny with our temperature trend warming up nicely, heading towards noon in the low 60s, and eventually. making it into the mid 60s there today in dublin, expect a high of 71. it will be 75. in concord, as well as 71 in novato and san francisco in the mid 60s. tomorrow it's going to be slightly warmer with some upper 70s, even a few low 80s fairfield hitting a high of 80
5:40 am
degrees. and then looking at thursday, we'll be in the upper 60s near the coastline, while some of our inland valleys will reach a high of 80 degrees. so we'll talk more about that. mike, you're following up on a crash in san jose. yeah. it's right. oh no. i lost the freeway. well, the shield is there. it's just i had to move things so you could see the crash. north 880 at the alameda, right near the off ramp. it goes 17 up to 880 as you cross by 280, just to get you oriented. looks like everything's off of the roadway. in fact, there may not be a crash. it may be an abandoned vehicle. so we'll track that it is out of lanes. and there's your typical start for the slowing just on north 101 right there. no problem for the tri-valley. we're looking at a build here for the nimitz 880 south through hayward. starting to show a little slowing. now that's pretty predictable. and like yesterday we predicted some more slowing, some more crowds, perhaps right around the coliseum for this evening's game. the second game, three games scheduled for the coliseum. tomorrow's will be midday, and that will impact perhaps the evening commute more. we'll talk about that tomorrow. we're looking at the morning commute, though. highway four. little build in toward
5:41 am
concord. a little bill for 37 out of vallejo and at the bay bridge. we now see slower sensors. we've had a few minutes as those metering lights were turned on, and there's the backup that starts to build at the bay bridge toll plaza.e back over to you, keeping us in the know. thanks, mike. now a life changing donation. next on today in the bay. a bay area family celebrates second chances and inspiring others. the special friendship that grew from a tragic loss in washington. the speaker of the house urges. a crackdown on students demonstrating on college campuses. and i'm bob redell will take you live her to east bay,e

things out. coming up. thanks, kerry and mike. april marks autism acceptance month, a time for uplifting voices. now, according to the cdc, about 1 in 36 children have autism spectrum disorder, and in this number is on the rise, especially as children of color receive more diagnoses after being largely overlooked throughout history. we spoke with doctor agnesa papazian, who specializes in autism spectrum disorder. she says there are signs parents may begin to notice initially that the child may not be providing eye contact when their name is called, they may not consistently respond to when their name is called. so parents might think, oh, they might have a hearing difficulty. and so they oftentimes will take the child to their pediatrician, get their hearing tested, and rule that out. and most of the time it's just that they're not responding to their name. the doctor says, if you notice these signs in your child, you should take your child to the

demonstrations are all over the united states, from big schools to small. and they are not organized by any one group, meaning you are going to see pictures of people holding horrible signs saying horrible things. but you will also see students who say they simply support a palestinian state and a cease fire. both of which are totally in line with us policy and with a few exceptions, notably columbia. the demonstrations are peaceful. this is university of wisconsin. other thing to keep in mind is university presidents are very aware of the power that johnson has to make their lives miserable. recent congressional hearings have led to the firing of university presidents. this is the president of harvard back in december, forced to resign. the presidents of mit and penn were at that same hearing. the head of mit stepped down to the president of columbia. just faced that same committee just recently. and promised congress she would remove a professor from a leadership position
