>> now at five-thirty back to our top story. a live look tonight at the vigil being held by the family of mario gonzalez. today marks 3 years since the 26 year-old died while being restrained by 3 alameda police officers. right. and that very park that you see there. again, that is a live look that 3 officers involved have been charged with involuntary manslaughter. 3 now face up to 4 years behind bars. >> on april, 21st 2021, alameda police responded to a call for a report of a man at a park talking to himself and scaring the colors. wife, some background here. and then when police arrived, they attempted to take him into custody. but a struggle ensued. police body cam video shows the 3 officers pinning gonzalez down for several minutes. the coroner determined that gonzalez is cause of death. was the toxic effects of methamphetamine along with the psychological

stress of altercation and restraint, obesity and alcohol is and contributing to the process of dying. the family of gonzales settled a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of alameda and the officers involved for 11 million dollars back in december. >> the alameda county da at the time. and nancy o'malley ended an investigation into the case in 2022. she cleared the officers of any criminal liability in gonzalez case. but now price is pursuing charges as kron four's philippe to call reports the leaders in the recall effort against her are not impressed. >> i feel that there are a whole things that she couldn't do right now that are more mister manno and making our community safer grisham and carl chan are the principal officers for safe alameda for everyone. >> the group spearheading the recall effort against alameda county district attorney pamela price. and although the field for mario gonzalez, his family following his death in

waiting for the alameda county board of supervisors to accept its recalled certification from the registrar of voter's and then set a date for an election. >> requests for comment from price's office and campaign have not been answered. philippe djegal all kron. 4 news. >> in san francisco, police have detained multiple people suspected of a series of car burglaries around the city. today's investigation started when offrcers responded to the eastern edge of golden gate park around 10 this morning. according to police, the suspects were detained in the area of stand-in street and john f kennedy drive the exact number of people detained today has not yet been released. police have made several arrests connected to a series of tobacco-related robberies throughout the bay area. >> the most recent incident happened tuesday morning. a delivery truck driver was dropping off tobacco products on mountain boulevard and shown avenue in 2 cars with several armed people pulled up

still the products and then took off during the investigation. officials connected the armed robbery to a series of tobacco-related robberies throughout the bay area. ultimately arresting 8 people can connect together these robberies, stolen tobacco products and firearms were also allegedly recovered. >> a lawsuit against bart by disability rights advocates has now been settled. the suit filed back in 2017 claimed bart failed to ensure full and equal access to station services such as elevators and escalators, which is a violation of the americans with disabilities act as part of the settlement, bart has now agreed to renovate its elevators and escalators and also to dispatch a repair person. within one hour after either breaks down at any station. >> and investigation is underway in new york city after him and lit himself on fire near former president trump's so-called hush money trial. and we're learning more at this hour about that

>> happening right now here at home, people are filing into a sold out alameda high auditorium, legendary activist and scholar angela davis is set to speak tonight at 6 o'clock. the black student unions at castro valley high school and alameda high school joined forces to asked davis to speak this evening. the event is expecting about 1800 people to show up. students hope the evening will empower other students and adults to enact change within their communities. >> in san francisco, a couple who started a petition complaining about noise from a nearby pickleball court but were later revealed to have their own court in their backyard are apparently selling their presidio heights home. harlan, holly peterson and their home, which is listed for 29 million dollars on zillow. we're at the center of a controversy last year when they started a petition to remove nearby public pickleball courts complaining that the games telltale pocket park sound was a disturbing to them. but pickleball players cried. hypocrisy after it was

layer and bringing now a little bit of lightning. and you can see a little bit of rain into the central sierra. so how about that? but all is quiet where we are at least for now. but as we zoom out, you see this low pressure system and that is what is going to be the impetus for the chance. and it is just a very slight chance. but i want to talk about it is i think it's on everyone's mind here of rain that would come in late thursday into friday of next week. we're still a little bit far out from this now to kind of lockdown. but what i can tell you is it doesn't look like it's going much of anything. a few light showers would likely be the highest impact that we would see. having said that, let's take a look at it. here's your weekend is looking good. there's your sunday beautiful. in fact, we'll warm up a little bit sunday into monday and then by tuesday, you see things start to change a little bit here. that's tuesday afternoon. we stay dry. but by the time we get to thursday night to friday, this is what models are showing. now, again, we're a little far out. so what i'm thinking we do is we have a spectacular weekend and then we kind of the back here on monday. we talked through this and take a look at it. but what i can tell you is regardless of how

certainly out of the coast here. but happening, they did, ok, we've got some sunshine out there this afternoon. and you can see it kind of worked itself into a lovely evening. having said that, we will see that marine layer rebuild right now. they're sitting about 55 degrees. certainly a lot cooler than say a spot like a san jose sitting about 71. we're at 73 in livermore. you can see 61 there in oakland. and as we head up to the north bay novato city about 68 degrees. so ran a little cooler today. have the marine layer in morning and then we had the afternoon sunshine. we're going to see that marine layer bill back in some taking you. this is our visibility we're looking at. you can see we go to 0 as we get later into the evening there. half moon bay, then in the overnight we're going to see some of that fog push into the usual suspects, right? so north bay, parts of the east, they want to look out well for that. as you wake up in the morning or if you're going to be out in the overnight hours, having said that right now, pretty nice. and even though we do have that to contend with, it will not put a damper on your weekend plans because they're going to be plenty of that sunshine as we roll into our afternoon tomorrow. and in

fact, it will be very much a repeat of today. we could even see things pop up a couple of degrees as we get to tomorrow. you can see us public antioch could potentially get to 81 degrees. same story in santa rosa, san jose about 77 and here in san francisco looking out for about 64. so a nice day above average day once tonight, though, we will see that marine layer buildin. there's even the chance of a little bit of drizzle. i think out at the coast when that happens, temperatures will be relatively mild here. so again, very similar to last night, we will start to lose that marine layer influence on sunday. it looks like we'll a little bit better run their window and talk about this tomorrow. pacific. as an example get calm down as we get into the evening. but then tomorrow you can see is going to ramp right back up as we get into the afternoon to saturday will also be a bit of a breezy day. that should also kind of calm down as we get into sunday. here's a look at your extended forecast. it's a nice one, folks. a lovely weekend out there. beautiful temperatures. nice, sunshine, little breezy tomorrow, earth day, lookin good. then we get

think our producer making her own list the fight. >> tomorrow, bart officials will be having an official retirement ceremony for its legacy trains. the ceremony will begin at one in the afternoon at oakland's macarthur station. >> following the ceremony, the public will then board a legacy training and they'll ride from macarthur to fremont station marrying the initial service part provided when it opened back in september of 1972, this trip will last about 45 minutes. it will travel along about 24 miles of the original section of tracks. the legacy trains are, of course, making way for a new generation. 696 new fleet of the future train cars are now certified for service in a lot of people. looking forward to riding on those the 3 legacy. 3 of the legacy cars are going to be headed to the western railway museum in sassoon city. a pretty the 3 cars, including iconic sloped front.
