sea, leaving in mercy, this is the big problem tonight. trees top bling down on power lines. a real nightmare for homeowners. good evening, i'm dawn timoney traffic lights out, roads closed, thousands of people in the dark, all thanks to some violent winds, reading, seeing 60-mile per hour gusts, tonight, the winds is still a factor. for more on when it will finally start to die down, let's check in with meteorologist, monica cryan. >> things have already start today quiet down just a bit from yesterday. it is all relative, right? so yesterday we had gusts up to 60, 56 miles per hour, women, here is where we stands for today. 45-mile per hour winds through the morning and into the afternoon. in philadelphia, and counted about 50 miles per hour, so still pretty gusty, still pretty dangerous, still saw some of the tree limbs, really , get pick up and because of this wind, that power outage, is harder to get it back up and running. now, as we head into the

evening, and through the overnight winds continue to slow. here is where the gusts lie, 18 miles per hour in philadelphia, 15 in mount pocono, 17 miles per hour in millville. notice, that winds right out of the north, how long right out of the north, really, ushering in the colder air. and that wind is also causing some problems, along the shore points, we've got coastal flood warning until sunday tomorrow morning. around 3:00 a.m. minor to moderate flooding expected now high tide has already been reached around 8:30 to 9:30, but we still could see some minor to moderate flooding through the next few hours. what it feels like when it comes to the winds? temperatures are into the three's, but actually feels like it is 28 in philadelphia, 29 in millville, 33 for those of just wildwood. tonight, overnight temperatures dropping to about 29 in the suburbs, 33 for the city, but it won't feel like that just because we still have going to be dealing with some gusty winds out of the north. ten to 15 miles per hour, we've got those windchills at about 25 degrees, in the city.

and through the suburbs, some areas could feel more like the teens, through other night, the good thing is, drawn, we've got clearer skies, i think expecting more sunshine as we head into our sunday and the new work week, i've got a look at your forecast coming up in just a bit. >> all right, it sounds encouraging, thank you, honda. the storm badly claiming a life in montgomery county. a 57 year old man was killed, after a tree fell onto his car this happened last night, about 7:00 along south gulph road in upper merion township whether police arrived they say they found the victim trapped in his car with a tree on top, the man died at the scene, his name is not being released until family can be notified. >> keeping an eye on the many power outage in our area, people across all major providers are still without service. peco reporting over 160,000 customers, are still without power across five countess. ac electric reporting around 4,000, delmarva, just under

6,000, and ppl at over 12,000 of its customers still without power. in hard hit delaware county a disaster emergency is declared in response to the widespread damage caused by yesterday's massive storm. fox 29's sabina kuriakose live in havertown, surveying the damage. sabina? >> up and down the street no power unless you were one of the lucky ones to be able to find a generator and one of the reasons why this giant tree, that came crashing down on this street. we're estimating it is about 60 to 80 feet tall. by the way you are not going to believe the story behind this truck that we're about to tell you. dawn, it is like this all throughout the country i. >> at this point the food already spoiled. >> fridge full of food gone to waste, steve's house lost power friday afternoon 24 hours later he had a generator going. still, too late to salvage much of anything.

>> i even have a freezer chest in the basement with a lot of food in there. it is what it is, there is nothing you can do about it. >> first full day of aftermath , after high winds with wet snow brought down massive trees and branches across delawar county. >> i heard it crack. then by the time i turned around it was on the power lines. >> next-door to steve, just gotten home from school when parts of their neighbor's tree toppled to the grounds. >> everybody can't turn a light on. the. >> outages stretches into night fall, street after street dark, fairly lit, almost 30% of delco remains without power. according to peco statistics innings. >> we found this one getting ready to hunker down in his home for the night. >> by candlelight. >> inside his house when his nab or's tall oklahoma came crashing down, he said the driver of the truck is now resting and very, very lucky.

>> there was another car com ing this way that jammed on his brakes, and luckily, thank god, the tree didn't hit him. >> and back out here live, on that truck, you can see, it still remains out here. no way to move it until peco clears the many power lines that remain down. now, right now, in delaware couldn't, about 62,000 people still without power, peco is estimating they're going to remain that way until at least mid week. and again, we have some safety concerns as is this stretches into day two, dawn, remember, there are still a lot of power lines on the grounds right now we must always treat them as if they're live. we've heard people saying pets got little too close to the lines, as we stretch into night and the generators are going, carbon monoxide is a issue, make sure the generate remembers no where inside your house not even in the garage. see this damage very, very extensive. bang to you. >> that's a large tree. thank you, sabina, good advice

, as well. check out. cape may lewis ferry rocking in some rough waters from the strong winds. this video taken around noon yesterday showing the perry -- ferry battling the high sea. everything is back and running today. >> ferocious winds causing some frightening moments for drivers trying to cross a bridge over the hudson river in new york. look at this. a tractor-trailer dangerously close to tipping over. authorities later decided to barn truck and bus traffic on the bridge due to those dangerous conditions. >> the storm slamming our beaches, boardwalks, taking a beating from the rough surround r of. our jennifer where the feared ones ripped the roof off a building. >> high tide after a big storm becomes an attraction for people down in north wildwood. >> we always come up to the inlet to see the water coming over the wall at high tide. it is kind of like the fun thing to do. not a lot to do this time of

year down here. >> she and her husband of drexel hill were two of the a.m. people who stopped by the sea wall to take pictures of strong, choppy waves crashing over the concrete barrier saturday morning. >> we didn't have any power back home. neighbor told us that our power is out until sunday night at 11:00. so now we're not going home, just going to stay here. >> says it was really windy overnight, with wind gusts cents reaching 71 miles per hour. kate shot in video in cape may of an entire roof blowing off of a building. we spotted the cliff and watched the tram car facebook page. we found similar aftermaths in north wildwood, winds ripped a rubber roof off of the 1900 boardwalk condominium complex, large chunks of material landed on the board, and the beach. repair crews quickly cleaned up the debris.

beach errosion is another concern officials will have to assess. one thing that wasn't so bad this time around, back bay flooding. all-in-all, people at the shore say they feel spared compared to the widespread damage and power outages in the philadelphia area. in north wildwood, jennifer joyce, "fox 29 news." public transportation is starting to get back to normal while those services still suspended on several regional rail lines. airports port, chestnut hill east and west, media elwyn and west trenton are all suspended until further notice. the norristown high-speed line is also suspended for the rest of the day due to downed trees >> a philadelphia international airport, better news, only few flights remain canceled with smaller airlines , but for the most part, flight and arrival retiring and departures were on time. montgomery county also slammed by the storm. trees uprooted causing quite a mess for homeowners. fox 29 dave kinchen out

spotting the damage finding a family who had quite the scare >> a big boom in the night for the family inside this house on old eagle and the ft. washington area. but the large tree, resting on the garage. it was join by another one on the driveway. both knocked down during the wild winds and pounding snow and rains of friday night's nor'easter. >> the same storm also yanking this tree out of the ground on malitia hill forcing whitemarsh township to shut down access at joshua road with barricades. and in gladwynn, the scene there, pa23 and waverly much the same across montgomery county, tree leveled at the roots taking down section of the fence along with it, crews will be busy this weekend removing damage and debris like this, especially where it can contributed to power outages, utility teams have their work cut out there. in gladwynn, dave kinchen, " fox 29 news." >> and good day philadelphia has you covered in the morning , be sure to wake up with us, and get the latest alerts on the storm damage where you live, it all starts

at 7:00 a.m. >> happening now, in new jersey, authorities in camden county arrest 27 year old man, for allegedly attempt to go lure a minor for sex. police say this man, curtis woods, was sending sexually explicit messages, to who he believed was 14 year old girl but was actually an undercover police officer. was arrested by police yesterday when investigators say he showed up at an agreed upon location in runnemede to meet the girl. facing numerous charges tonight. >> police in wilmington, delaware, are mourning the loss of one of their own tonight. police captain died from a heart attack this morning, the police captain served on the force for 21 years. he leaves behind a wife, and twin daughters, he was just 45 years old. the mayor has ordered the city flags to be flown at half staff to honor his service. >> a woman looking for a bargain finds a long lost family treasure now he's

carolina according to police crashed right into his cruiser ment the driver isiah muhammad facing several charges including driving while intoxicated. the officer did suffer serious injuries but the good news is he is expected to be okay. to a developing story now, schools all across the country trying to find ways now to keep our children safe. and believe it or not, police think textbooks might actually do the trick. police in oklahoma say textbooks are just one more wall inbetween the shooter and the studentment the idea would be to place three, four old books, in a inexpensive draw string back pack, tubs filled with the back pack in each classroom. in the event after shooting students would just grab one of the back packs, throw it over their shoulder and protect their chess and other vital organs. >> right now what we've done is basically shot up a bunch of school books. >> first two rounds it did not even pen trade the third book, actually didn't even penetrate

powder as those temperatures start to climb back up. at 38 degrees right now, those winds out of the north- northwest 18-mile per hour sustained winds, but gusts up to 26. and it is making it feel much colder. so i want to show you your future cast when it comes to the windchills, what we wake up to early tomorrow morning it, will feel like 26 degrees in philadelphia. twenty-three in pottstown. the poconos feeling more like the low 20's, and into the teens. but his is what i was talking about, some of the fresh powder, now, i know it caused a lot of problems throughout the entire delaware delaware valley, we did see highest snowfall totals up toward the poconos where they really do un joy that, unfortunately it came with the wind. but the northeast seeing a lot of new snowfall. i don't think we will be adding to that through the next few days, here's why, high pressure system is growing in from the great lakes region, that's helping to clear us out. so pretty nice day today. some clear skies. we just kept some of those breezy winds conditions. a little cloud cover left overthrew the overnight. and then, as we look at your future cast, i want to show

you, we head into tomorrow morning. this is a look at your sunday morning, the clouds continue to move off to the east, left with mostly sunny skies headed into early sunday morning there is continues, there is no real big weather mover shakers as we head through torrow, and into monday, so expect some nice sunshine, as we head into sunday, than is a look at your monday morning heading into the new work week , we've got some sunshine to look forward to. for tonight, still little cloud cover, partly cloudy, and with the temperatures dropping, into the suburbs into the upper 20's, it is going to feel more like 25 degrees, and some areas into the lower 20's, with the winds out of the north, anywhere from ten maybe even 15 miles per hour, and it will stay breezy. not lose that winds tomorrow. but it is going to start to calm just bill bit. so ten to 15-mile per hour winds tomorrow. forty-eight is your high under mostly sunny skies, temperatures staying into the upper 40's, as we head into monday. and tuesday, as well. you can see upper four's, with mostly sunny skies on monday.
